Master Lu Teachings Concerning Masters - I don't trust the masters who don't ask for money, Master Lu told me
once. I was very embarrassed thinking that I had to pay his teachings and I was at a loss how to approach the topic. As if he had read my mind, the master opened the dialogue with the words above. After a short while he continued: - There are two kinds of quacks. Some of them do ask for money and run grand style businesses! Others don't! One would think the latter are true masters and the paid ones aren't! That's not true at all. Many people are
satisfied with fame, glory and reputation more than with money. You can therefore infer that impostors could be found on both sides. There was a lot of truth in master's sayings, I thought. Still, there was something ambiguous for me, and I wanted master to make it clear: - You've said that you don't trust the masters who don't ask for money - why not doing the same with those asking for it? The answer was abrupt:
- People asking for money in exchange of what they do, have a healthy, down-to-earth sense, no matter they are quacks. In fact, even the spiritual quacks could be useful for a while. They awaken you to the Reality. If there is good stuff in you [i. e. good karma], then you can go on by yourself. But those not asking for money are like a night with no moon. There is no shred of light in the dead of the night - while coveting to assert themselves,
they don't offer anything to the disciple. One simply cannot learn anything from them! That is why they seem to me even more dubious and dangerous!" |
