Master Lu's Teachings

Nobody Can Prove Anything

Master Lu said: Yesterday I went to the park. A day before I had seen the squirrels jumping happily on the fir-tree branches. I thought I would find them again in the same place. But I looked for them vainly.

If I wanted to persuade anybody that there were squirrels in the park, I should find it difficult to prove my point. No matter how patiently one waited for them – days on end, maybe months – it's no sure they will come to see them. Squirrels don't show up according to schedule.

The same goes for Tao teaching. Tao represents a personal experience unlikely to be demonstrated to anyone. Each of us should have his own Tao experience. Nobody can prove anything. Jhian Yang
